Mecca Bey is a seasoned entrepreneur and consummate telecommuter who realized the benefits of working from home and running a home based business in 2001, shortly after selling her retail boutique in Philadelphia’s popular South Street shopping district.  After working as an independent contractor / consultant in a virtual capacity for several businesses and networking with other members of the virtual assistant community, Mecca saw a an opportunity to link businesses looking to hire remote workers with virtual staff.  She formed Savoir Faire Solutions, a boutique business services firm offering virtual staffing and  outsourcing solutions.  Savoir Faire Solutions  helped companies reduce overhead expenses and helped top talent find legitimate work at home / remote work arrangements.

While working for an internet marketing company as a virtual web sales specialist, Mecca discovered a love for all things Internet related and saw an opportunity for other areas of business to benefit from leveraging the power of the internet, namely marketing and advertising.  That led to a career in social media marketing where Mecca helps companies to build communities of their customers and develop brand enthusiasts at a fraction of the cost of traditional display advertising. Mecca now runs Convert Media Group, a social media marketing firm that designs social media campaigns that convert conversations and traffic into tangible sales results.

In addition to her work as a social media maven and home based business / jobs advocate Mecca is a passionate web curator using her voice in the virtual world to spread news about people, places, and things, that she thinks are worthy of mention.  Ever the serial entrepreneur, Mecca is currently in the process of launching a  new ecommerce boutique and is a member of a think tank creating an innovative web based technology start up.  She is active in her local community and has been invited to speak about small business start ups, working from home, and overall empowerment through economic emancipation.  In her “former life” she was a hip hop artist, known as Mecca Starr, and although she is retired she uses her social media expertise to help friends still working in the entertainment industry with their online branding and marketing.

Mecca is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (BA 2008) and a SNHU MBA candidate graduating in 2013.  A former Widener Univerisity Law School  student, Mecca is currently taking a break from pursuing a JD with intent to return in the near future and practice pro bono human rights law (#SeekingCicero).
